IMPORTANT – VMWARE SERVICE UPDATE

NSX FOR VSPHERE SUPPORT ENDS ON JANUARY 16, 2022

VMware will be ceasing support for NSX for vSphere in less than 12 months.
It’s important to be making key decisions now so that you’re prepared for NSX end of life.

What you need to know:

  • NSX for vSphere 6.4 will reach End of General Support on January 16, 2022.
  • VMware’s NSX-T Data Center has reached new levels of robustness and feature richness.
  • VMware’s commitment to innovation, customer focus, and network security continues. NSX-T Data Center is the way forward.
  • If you have already purchased NSX for vSphere that license enables you to upgrade to NSX-TData Center.
  • NSX for vSphere was a solution that directly integrated into vSphere. NSX-V was meant for a vSphere-centric world when the ‘hybrid cloud’ or agnostic vendor selection was less of a priority. NSX-V was limited in its capabilities for expansion outside of vSphere.
Why migrate to NSX-T Data Center:

  • Disaggregated from vCenter and manages multiple vCenters at a given time
  • Can manage KVM hosts through open vSwitch and Edge nodes can run on bare metal to improve performance
  • Ability to integrate directly into the Kubernetes container environment through NCP (NSX Container Plugin)
  • Aggregation of control and management planes into a single 3 node cluster (less management VM’s)
  • Enhanced security capabilities that are continually improving, such as IDP/IPS and Layer 7 functionality.
  • Ability to integrate with advanced load balancer capabilities using the NSX Advanced Load Balancer (AVI networks acquisition)
